Kentucky Derby Party August 2011

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT – WOW……WHAT A PARTY
What a party!!! The Kentucky Derby II party was a wonderful success and we hear from all those who attended that they had a great time.

A very special thank you to our hosts Julie and Tom Heinsheimer. Their hospitality was beyond belief and their garden was so beautiful that it really added to the event. Did you know that their property started as a chicken farm and that Julie as a landscape artist transformed it to this magical place?

I also want to thank all the members who helped with food, set-up, clean-up and I hope I don’t forget anyone but thank you, thank you: Pat Webb, Chair, Shirley Borks for taking photos for the press, Sharon Ryan, Pam Barrett and Jim Hill, Dick Grotz, Joyce Kochanowski, Shirley and Max Thomas, Peggy Ekberg, Donna Scherlacher, Shirley Earlise Starde-Wallace, Judy McCracken , Loyd Kenworthy, Mo Pugsley, DeDe Hicks, and the whole Intagliata family for loaning us and setting up the sound equipment for the fabulous performance of member Anne Destabelle and her Pennyroyal group. Their new show on the music of Stephen Foster was so interesting, enjoyable and wonderful that everyone groaned and said don’t stop when they announced the last song. These great ladies (Anne Destabelle, Ann Erinclou, Joan Perkins, Faye Schwartz, Gay Durward and Faye Schwartz) donated their time and talent to help make it such a great party. Thank you, thank you. (Can’t say it enough.)

If you have not been to one of these you don’t know what you are missing when we play horse bingo. The hooting and hollering as everyone cheered on the horses was as much fun to watch and hear as it was to be a winner. Well almost. We split the pots so the members profited and so did Affinity. I am attaching just a few pictures from the party but will have more to show at the next event.
